Hey guys. Need a little help here. I've got to do a transcription for my Imrov class. It has to be blues based and at least 4 chouruses and darned if I'm not having a hard time finding a bass solo. If anyone has some suggestions, I'm all ears. Thanks!

Dave Holland's solo on "Pfrancin" from the Joe Henderson record So Near, So Far is a great solo. Bob Hurst plays an awesome solo on "Blue Freeze" from his record Robert Hurst Presents. Practically any cd with Christian McBride on it has a great bass solo on a blues. His solo on "Blues M45" from Roy Haynes' Te Vou is incredible, but it's a minor blues so I don't know if that will work for your assignment.
By the way, I'd be happy to sell you any of these transcriptions for $375.00 :D

Why limit yourself to bass solos?

Looks like two of the Jim Hall & Ron Carter albums has Ron playing a long solo (4-5 choruses).

    "Whose Blues" on "Alone Together"
"Blue Monk" on "Live At the Vilage West".

It's an assignment thing. He wants it on our respective instruments. Otherwise, I wouldn't be having this issue. But I'll check out the ones recommended thus far.

There must be loads of Paul Chambers recorded solos on Blues-based pieces - I mean Coltrane wrote a Blues for him - Mr. PC - on Giant Steps - can't remember off-hand but that track must have at least 4 choruses of bass solo....?

There's definitely a Blues bass solo by PC on the classic Wes Montgomery track "No Blues" (written by Miles) on "Smokin' at the Half Note" ! :)

I did find a good solo to work on: "Castle Rock" from Red Garland's record Can't See For Lookin'. It's seven choruses, so obviously it fits the criteria. I'll definitely check out a lot of these other suggestions. I don't have a few of them. Thanks for the help, though!
