My new head has two out put jacks that state "4ohm minimum". The cabinet supplied is 8ohm. Silly question, but is there a potential for damage to the speakers?
Not likely your manual will give you specific instructions on the nature of ohms concerning your cabs
4 ohm min. means you can run 2- 8 ohm cabs.. This translates to 4ohms is less resistance to the amp, so full power is allowed to be drawn. 8 ohms is more resistance to the amp so less power is drawn from the head.
