5 of Tom Petty & The Heartbreaker's guitars stolen Five of Tom Petty's guitars stolen in Southern California
That's a shame. I'm sure they're all very attached to their instruments. If someone stole 5 of mine, well, er, I wouldn't have any left! No basses, I see. Guess we won't see them showing up in the TB classifieds.
Not to sound callous or anything, I think stealing gear is despicable, but TP and Mike Campbell take A LOT of guitars on the road. Last time I saw TP at Red Rocks, he and Campbell were literally changing guitars after every song. They must have played a dozen different guitars each through the course of the whole show. All gorgeous vintage collectables, naturally. I feel sorry for the roadie in charge of maintaining and looking after all that in the chaos of a tour. As an owner of over 100 guitars and basses myself, I hope they are recovered.
If someone stole 5 of my guitars...I'd have -3... That is a bad ordeal though that 5 of their guitars were taken. I hope they are recovered soon.
This part of the article makes me sad: "The band is known for a string of hit singles such as American Girl, Don't Do Me Like That, and Breakdown." The Spice Girls are known for a string of hit singles. Tom Petty's more in the icon/legend group.
What a shame. Start checking eBay and local Craigslist's daily, I am sure at least one or possibly all five will show up sometime...
Looks like theyve been recovered! http://www.talkbass.com/forum/f34/p...tbreakers-stolen-guitars-874401/#post12504811
