5-String Geddy Lee Bass ?

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by 5fretless, Dec 10, 2004.

  1. Hello all,

Saw a posting a while back about someone wishing Fender would make a 5-string version of their "Geddy Lee" signature bass. Well, I believe I've seen a very close approximation of one at

If you have a trusted luthier - you could get him/her to put block inlays on the neck along with a bit of binding - would have to be a VERY trusted luthier though !

I might be wrong, but I don't think there's currently an aftermarket 5 string J neck with blocks/binding.

There is however, the imminent 5 string Lakland Daryl Jones bass...

I briefly owned a Benavente Vintage Vortex in black with maple fingerboard/black inlays.

Warmoth's so secretive. Their site isn't fully revealing all the things they can do either :/. It's confusing, really.
  6. i was in on that thread.. or started it. i can't remember.

i have a 5 string coming soon from usa custom guitars. sent the neck to custom inlay for the black blocks. $110.00 haven't seen any pics but tommy from usacg says it looks good. i went with alder body and maple neck and board. passive electronics. we'll see how close it comes to my old geddy.

at the time of ordering, i checked and warmoth only offers blocks with their four string necks. (but yes, that was several months ago) usacg is also working on being able to do neck binding if i'm not mistaken.
