  1. (Re-listing this bass - after a sale fell through.)

    Juzek flatback - 7/8

    Specs from the appraisal:

"The bass is gamba shaped with a flat back. The makers label reads: 'John Juzek/violinmaker/(signature)/made in Czechoslavakia.'
The top is of two piece spruce with straight, even grain, medium to wide width, A large repair wing piece has been added to the lower treble bout.
The back is of two piece plain quarter-cut maple. There are six pins along the center joint, and one off to the side in the lower bass bout.
The wood of the ribs matches that of the back with the exception if the lower bass-side rib, which is probably not original.
The scroll is beech, V grafted to a maple neck, and a reverse wedge has been added to the neck face.
The bass has been converted to carry five strings. The varnish is dark brown. The instrument is in fair condition.

The fifth string is tuned to low B.
