5 string octave bass

    tried searching here but not much luck. who is making or has made in the past, a 10 string bass but strings arranged in 2's x 5 pairs (10 strings total).

    alembic has made some i believe. i saw an ad in BP that had Ryan Martinie with a 10-string warwick.

    Yep,they made one for Jason Newsted. It's in their '89 catalogue:

    ahh, yes. i knew they made one but i couldnt remember if Jason had one or not.


    btw, i think it would've been pretty awesome if he had used that bass live for "sad but true" instead of the 6'er.

    You might be able to find a used Dean 10er floating around eBay or Craigslist.

    Didnt Hamer make one?? Conklin also comes to mind as a possibility. I dont know if they've done one but I think they could pull it off.

    definitely looking for a regular production bass rather than a custom order.

    Mine was made for 1 or 2 years tops. Called a Starfire. Probably made in China or something to that effect. No markings other than that. I bought it new in 2005.
    She is semi-hollow and is a beast. About 12.5 pounds
