So, i’m looking for a good 5 string pj bass. i’m generally just a P user, and I haven’t had a 5 string for quite some time. let’s say money isn’t an option here, what are some 5 string PJs you guys have really enjoyed? any recommendations?

The Yamaha BB series is definitely worth checking out. I bought a used BB415 a few years ago that does everything I want.

I'll echo the comments on the Yamaha. I had a 2025x that I let go... That is the only bass I've owned I regret selling.

  4. If money isn’t the problem, I would start with Sandberg. But a no brainer would also be a Jericho or a Sire. Enjoy your quest.

  5. I got the exact same model. Plays great, sounds killer. Super cheap.

I want to get rid of it because I've moved to narrower string spacings but they have minimal resale value so they can be had for almost nothing.

As some have mentioned, the Yamaha BBP35 or the BB735 are both great basses.

I'm partial to my custom Bluesman Vintage PJ5. She's fantastic!

Yamaha BBP35. Mine is a killer bass, has been my main bass for a year now. My Laklands, Fender and Stingray are jealous.

Roscoe Classic. Do it right. Best 5 string P/J I've ever encountered.

I thought about selling mine--for about five minutes. Best passive 5 I've ever played. All the tone in the world. And if your hands are small like mine, that 1.75" nut makes a huge difference. 360-361 2018.

I agree you should go with Roscoe, as the B string on a Roscoe is the best I’ve ever heard, but a Century Standard is also an option.

I've got a Roscoe LG 5 string P/J. It plays and sounds beautiful, and the low B is thunderous. 20190531_153933.

Beautiful Roscoe! If you want to to active, the Century is indeed hard to beat. The Roscoe Century body is a marvel. Ergonomics are perfect.

Fodera YYS5 has PJs in humbucker sized casings. Although I recent put a set of Duncan Dual Coils in with a coil tap switch and am MUCH happier.
