I bought this bass a while back from DCR. I had the body routed for a second pickup and the work was done nicely. I have installed a set of nice humbucker pickups, CTS pots, orange drop capacitors, switchcraft output jack, and black metal set screw knobs by Allparts. When I got this bass it was in need of some work, especially the fret ends, this has been taken care of. I have sanded down the poly finish on the back of the neck, smoothed out the laminations, and applied about ten coats of tung oil. The poly on the top of the body was in fair shape when I got it so I sanded it smooth and have applied 3 coats of sanding sealer. The final sanding of the sealer is still needed and then a final poly. Unlike the other basses that have floated around here, this one DOES NOT have any neck issues. The neck is strong, stable, and has a volute. The truss rod operates without issue. I have the action set pretty low and it plays very nice. The sound is nice, full, and lively. The B string tension is decent without being floppy or too tight. in fact the B string tension is comparable to the Squier 5 that I am also selling. Scale lenght is 34 inches. I paid $450 and have at least another $300 in this bass at this point. I'm going to offer it up for $550 plus shipping. I'm not too interested in trades as I have my eye on something else that I need to raise cash for.
Nice bass. Did you add the pickup up at the fingerboard? It would have been nice to be able to slap a little on it.
The neck pickup is the one that was added. Unfortunately, due to the position of the original pickup putting one closer to the neck was the only option.
