I was thinking it would be nice to have a pinned thread that list 5 string basses and their string spacing since they all vary. It would be nice to be able to see this for comparing and selecting which basses fall within a persons choice.

I have a Dean Edge Q5 that is 15mm. (too close for me)

    SVT,
My Dean is more like 15mm. Very close together. Compared to my buddies Warwick that is 16.5mm mine is at least 1.5mm narrower and when I measured it appeadred to be 15mm.

How do you like the 19 vs. the Dean? I just can't get used to the Dean am playing my 4 strings as well. It has been a few months and I miss strings occasionaly. Drives me nuts.

Sorry, typo on my part - I meant to put 15mm!

I've not tried a Dean but had played briefly on a Spector and a G&L Tribute L2500 before. I'm not sure what spacing these have but I'm suspecting smaller than 19mm. I thought having a similar nut width to a 4-string would help me transition to a 5 better, but it turns out that a wider neck and the more familiar string spacing was a bigger factor (for me at least).
