i currently have a 4-string bass, but i am saving up for a 5-string. but i heard from someone, im not sure who, but he said that you could stick a low-b from a 5-string on a 4-string and remove a string. is that possible?
  2. Yes. I involves removing the strings, and filing the nut slots to accomodate the fatter strings. Restring in the new configuration, and reset the intonation. If you cannot do any of that, a guitar or bass tech can do it for minimal charge. If you want to go back to 4, you will have to replace the nut.
