I kinda like the natural one. I'd go with a 3-2 tunehead config though. Overall, I like 'em.

They're pretty cool, but the headstock looks enormous!

  8. Just seems somehow...wrong.

What are the details? If you want the classic P sound you need to have non-metallic bridge saddles, right? I can't imagine a low B sounding too keen with those.

I guess Benavente thinks a lot of people want a 5 string bass that looks like an early Fender.

    Make mine a natural.

That headstock just looks huge as a 5 inline. Maybe a 4+1 or 3+2 would look better.

Yea, I'm friends with Hippiesandwich and I had the same response. I don't like the headstock.

I agree. I think it Looks really nice. the 2 soapbars in the amber one remind me of a Sadowksy made for Tom Hamilton of AeroSmith.

you know , the headstock is about the only thing I like about the looks.

I'd probably love it if I played it though.

Chris made the first one (black) after he saw my hot rodded black Fender Sting. He's a 5 string player so he made one to look like my Sting only in a 5 string version for himself. He showed pics of it on my Benavente forum at The Pit and a bunch of guys said they wanted one just like it so he made a few more and brought them to NAMM...that simple...never intended on introducing a new model.

Here's my Sting which he liked so much.

I actually like 'em, although a 3-2 tunehead config would be nice.

  18. Here's a 5-string '51 precision built by a Finnish luthier Jussi Ala-Kuha (notice the 4+1 headstock config, nice finish and scratchplate too...) :D

“The 51” was built to give the Vintage P guys the look but in a 5 & 6 string. It was actually just something Chris did for him self and got a great response on so he decided to add it to his line. Its really only built in a 5 string or 6 strings, not intended to be built as a 4. He wasn’t trying to re-invent the 51, but build a 51 style P but for those that played 5 or 6 string and actually make it hand built and custom options with pickups and preamp.

    Thanks
    Brian
