'57 Kay C-1 Upright For Sale. Nice bass! Has a new bridge and tailpiece wire, strung with Helicore Pizz mediums. Otherwise all original. Very little chipping of the lamination, no neck breaks or repairs. This one was adult-owned, and well-cared for. Sounds and plays great, I just have a new DB on the way and need to make room.

I really want to sell to someone who can pick it up or I can drive to meet within a reasonable distance of the Atlanta, GA. area. $1100 More pics available on request.

Congratulations, Doug, and welcome to the darkside! Guess you can change your TB profile now.

I just played a very similar C-1 on an unamped trio gig this past weekend. It was in much worse shape than yours, with lots of hard years on jazz gigs under its belt, and dead strings to boot. Nevertheless, it sounded great, nice and loud, and was a blast to play. These are good basses. Have fun with it.

Thanks for the welcome. I think it's going to be a great bass to learn to play on. Everyone here has taught me well: I've got a teacher, a luthier, Simandl and now a bass. I'm ready to go!

yeah, i'm drooling over the finish on that 57! i just picked up a 56 c-1 that looks like it was used as a work bench for 30 years and played my first (amplified) gig with it last w'end. with strings at least 15 years old on it (new ones on order!) i still fell in love. now i have to add the 56 to my list of instruments to be buried with and this one's bigger than the coffin! you'll have a blast with that instrument, guaranteed!

Thanks for the comments, Tim. This is my first bass so I feel very lucky to be starting with a Kay like this. I'm having a blast already!
