'57 Precision -- raised poles under the A-string

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by Mastermold, Apr 6, 2009.

  1. My 57 reissue has the raised poles under the A-string like the original 57, but not all of the reissues have them. Some are even across the poles like a standard Precision pickup. I've heard Fender manufactured them both ways over the years, but don't know what years they included the raised poles and what years they didn't. Anyone know?

The US made '57 P reissues have the raised A pole, the MIJ basses do not.
There are a few '82 US basses that do not have the raised A pole, but they are very rare.
  3. Well, what I heard (I think here on TB) was that the American reissues also varied over the years from including to not including the raised A-poles. I looked at the AV 57 pictured at ThePerfectBass.com and it appears the poles on that one are not raised.

Maybe it was all of the Fullerton Reissues that had raised pole pieces.
    I'll double check.

My 2001 AV RI has the raised poles.
My 1997 AV RI does not have the raised poles.
Fender says that the official pups are called "Official" on the box and these do not have the raised poles.
    It is a mystery.

My '99 '57 reissue had them. They are now installed on my sons Standard MIM pbass, raised poles included;)

The experts at FDP agree with my original statement.
USA '57 reissues should have come with raised A pole pickups.
But with Fender, there are always exceptions.

The pickups Fender sells separately never came with raised A poles.
