6 string bass (a. k. a. low octave guitar)

    Hi everybody.
    Can anyone suggests an affordable 6 string bass guitar in the manner of Fender Bass VI or Burns "Barracuda"?

    Danelectro makes one that wouldn't drain your wallet completely.

    That's not the same thing. A baritone guitar is tuned a fifth lower than a regular guitar. A low octave guitar is tuned an octave lower (duh) than a regular guitar.

    I'm not being a smartass here, I too thought they were the same thing until the great Jeff M Bell pointed out the differences to me in a thread here.

    I've heard the sound files. This 6-string bass sounds really bright.
    Anything with a bassier sound?
    How about the Music Man Silhouette Bass Guitar?
    Did anyone heard or played it?
