I am curious to know if any luthiers do build what would essentially be a 6 string version of a Fender Jazz or Precision bass?

What IO would be looking for is mearly the body shape, not neccessarily the pickups associated with those basses.

I am sure that I have seen pictures posted of exactly what I am looking for before and I did try a search but with not much luck.

If anyone could point me in the right direction it would be appreciated.

  2. Yeah the Low End has a six string jazz bass model, as well as the body shape of the precision that's a six string. I think the website is the Lowend.net. I'm sure other's will chime in soon

I've been looking at them, and/or a luthier to build one for me that's a bit more Fender like.

Well. I have a 5-string LowEnd Jazz that I love and a 6-string Jazz bass that Brian is just waiting to get back from paint as we speak.. These Jazz basses are amazing (in case you were wondering about that).

    James, those are gorgeous.

Do my eyes deceive me, or are the strings white? What kind are they?

Doesn't that crazy 7-string obsessed John Turner guy that everyone hates have a 7-stringed Geddy lee style jazz :D

John's "Geddy Lee" style jazz is a LowEnd Jazz.

Bass_Mule, what is that? It's not quite a jazz, the lower horn for sure, but still nice looking.

Thanks Shelly, no the strings are silver/grey... it was a very sunny day. I believe at that time it still had SIT Power Flats on it, It may have been D'Addario Half Rounds
