I'm considering changing the tuning of my 6 string from B to C to an E to E tuning (octave below guitar).

I don't want to get into a discussion of the merits of this but I'm really interested to know what string(s) to get. I guess I could always buy a 7 string set and throw away the low B but is there another way to go?

need to know where youre from. some places will sell single strings in nearly every thickness, other places, like where i come from, only sell B-C six string sets. no sevens, even.

You could get 4 string sets and order 2 singles for the B & E.

What guage do folks normally use for a high F string (or High E in my case) ?

  6. As in Cleveland, OH?

SIT sells singles. They're in Akron, I think.

  8. Folks,

I just got a Cort Curbow 6 on e-bay and threw away the strings that came with it and went for an EADGCF tuning.

In a word - superb ! - may tune the bass to DADGCF though as I tune my two five string basses to AEADG - love those octaves on the same fret !!

I bought this bass as an inexpensive way to get into the higher end tunings of ERB's.

I live in the UK and bought strings from Status guitars http://www.status-graphite.com - a 4-string set 100-80-60-40 then added a single 30 and a single 20.

    Give it a go !
