    ok, this

is my puppy. tonewise it`s everything i need from a bass right now, but I`ve already know that I`m not into 6 strings.
i do not intend to sell this bass, so I`m not really afraid to do some serious modifications to it - I`ve already swapped the pickups (now it`s j/p) moved the strap pin, added a ramp, and took the sixth string off.

now, i plan to convert it to a broad neck 5 stringer - does anyone have experience with basses like that? converted 6 stringers, or those warwick models? is it more comfortable? I think I want a wider spacing at the nut, but I`m not really sure. I`m a big guy with rather long fingers, but playing in the first position can be a bit uncomfortable at times...

I too dig wide neck 5 strings. at least 20mm.
A new nut, and bridge will do the trick.
You may need a custom bridge?

i asked "my" luthier about it, and he gave ma a really reasonable price, so it`s not a problem.
