60 watts into 4x10 + 1x15

Discussion in 'Amps and Cabs [BG]' started by semborg, Jul 17, 2005.

  1. What will happen if you put a 60 watt head into one 4x10 cab and one 1x15 cab?

    Can it be loud?

    Whats about the sound quality?

Better to use a single 1x12 instead?

Then I think that that many speakers are overkill for your wattage.

Honestly even that 112 could probably use more power.

The 4x10" and 1x15" with 60W will be as loud as a similar 1x12" with 250W. However, it still won't be a terribly loud rig and it's utterly illogical to use that little power with a rig that size.

That's a lot of equipment to move to still not be audible.

    60 watts are 60 watts.

dont try to give all the power you can just because the cabs can handle it.... if you make the amp clip for more power you may damage your gear!

try just the 1x15, so you may handle a good low end
  8. Curious what reasoning you base that on? Keep going with that theory, can you get 2 4x10's with 2x15's with 60W and that would be the same volume as a single cab with 500W?

Sounds like a perpetual motion machine you got there. Don't need no stinking watts, just add speakers until you're as loud as you want. No such thing as a free lunch.

  9. I was just wondering about it.

    Thank you
