How does the 62 AVRI Precision bass neck compare to the '63 AVRI Precision bass neck. I've only played the 62 and love it. How would you say the 63 AVRI feels compared the 62? Thicker? Wider? Same?

Thicker for sure maybe a little more D shaped. The '62 neck is very flat and thin through the middle.

The '63 is thicker front to back than the '62. I prefer the '62, feels more like my '64 P-bass. The new '63 feels to me like a '50's neck, on the new '58 it seems right but IMO they should have kept the old '62 tooling for the '63.

  5. I like big necks and I cannot lie.

Maybe a silly question, but how does the 63 compare to a new American Standard P-bass neck?

The AS neck is narrower at the nut (1.65 vs. 1.75) and maybe rounder in shape.

  8. I can't say for sure because I've never played a 63', but the new P Bass necks are 1.65 at the nut and not very 'chunky' at all. They are slim and fast.

    I like both.

The 62 is flatter, a tad wider.
The 63 is thicker front to back, but not a wide.
Both play great. Apples & Oranges.
