62 RI Precision - Olympic white or sunburst?

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by brettf, Apr 27, 2010.

  1. I need to order one in to try it, ive never seen either in person yet.
Should i order the olympic white or the sunburst?

Olympic white is a bit cooler on its own, but the sunburst has more of a vintage vibe with Jamerson style points.

    Which one do you like?
    Post pics?

    Oly, all the way.

I'm biased though because my first bass was a '68 J (refin) in Oly White.

This is not a decision I would ever have to make... I say buy both.

  6. Body-wise i LOVE both the Oly White and Burst... but i'd put a Black pickguard on both. Hate tort guards on anything but a black body :spit:

That said, Jamerson points ALL... THE... WAY!!

I'd say a 'burst only because it seems to be more popular in case you want to sell it later. Personally, finish is about the last thing I care about, but if I had to specify one, it'd be either Lake Placid Blue (oh, I already GOT one!), or Candy Apple Red. No idea if FMIC still offers either color in the Vintage Series '62 P.

  8. Just ordered an Oly. Cheers guys. (pics still welcome!)

  9. Olympic White is the safer way to go if you're ordering a bass on line without seeing it first. Sunbursts over ugly or poorly matched wood are not common but can happen. White also hides finger prints, so no polishing necessary if that bothers you.

As for personal taste, both are classic looks and I'm sure the tone will be great either way. Enjoy!

I vote Olympic White (even though you already bought it) of all colors, white looks best under stage lights.

    Burst looks like crap. :p

    I'd buy the Olympic White.
