67 Bassman problem

Discussion in 'Amps and Cabs [BG]' started by mingustoo, Mar 23, 2006.

  1. I'm hoping one (or some) of you more enlightened ones can help me with this problem. I have a 67 Bassman with matching 2x12. Sounds so sweet-like giant gumdrops falling on the forest floor. Until, that is, a serious squelching sound takes over my sonic Valhalla. Then it sounds like jets are taking off in the bachground. Any ideas? Dirty pots? tubes? Rift in the space-time continuum? Help is appreciated.

Sounds like a microphonic preamp tube. Try pulling your preamp tubes one at a time (it has three, right? My 100 has two ...) to isolate which one, if indeed that's the problem.

Hell, aren't these cool amps? I love my 100.
