6th chords

    The 6th chord is a replacement for the major 7th when the root is the melody note. In that way you would not have the clash of the 1/2 step between the major 7th in the chord and the root in the melody. Therefore you can solo over a 6th chord as you would over a major or major 7th chord: major scale or major pentatonic.
