  3. Farther down ...the tip about "Slap does not equal funk" made me think of The Swampers at Muscle Shoals.

    They had the funk sound going early on.....but AFIK they did not use slap bass.....

    Just watched a doc on them and Rick Hall the other day.....don't recall seeing the bass player slap once......

    Absolutely, and to be clear, I personally love slap bass, the point of the blog is that you can be funky without slapping a note. Cheers
