7 String Strings

Discussion in 'Strings [BG]' started by DiG, Oct 11, 2004.

  1. I have new Conklin 7 string bass that should be arrivng at my house within an hour, and I'm wondering, how strong are the two highest strings, if I pluck them, how much of a chance is there that they will snap? I don't want to break one too soon as they are a bitch to replace. :meh:

  2. first, let me congratulate you on getting a Conklin! Bill's designs are probably my favorite in the world.

I haven't had any problems with strings breaking on my Conklins (knocking on wood), but I also have a really light attack -- even when I'm slapping and popping. also, my 7 was tuned from F# at the low end to a high C. I have a high F on my 8. my 10 will have a high Bb, but when I played the 11 string Adler, it was well strung.

if you've got any questions, though, I'd direct 'em to Bill and Mike at the Conklin shop...

    from the lows,

    Stew
