I'm doing a musical on my double bass and there's also another bass guy, he's got a 7  string! So, I guessed the extra 2 strings could be B and E, like an acoustic but what's the 7th?

    Some are B-E-A-D-G-C-F
    Some are F#-B-E-A-D-G-C
    Some are B-E-A-D-G-B-E
Etc. You can tune it however you want. Do a search, there are plenty of threads related to this.

    FYI mine is tuned B-E-A-D-G-C-F

Do you mean a 7-string Double Bass or Bass Guitar?

The former would be quite extraordinary - latter, quite "common" !! ;)

Chords, tapping, harmonics... Whatever you can do on a four you can do on a 7. The advantage comes with the greater range at which you can do them.

LOL, I could see that coming!
Lots of people play extended range basses, Hell, A few people here have 7,8, and I think a few 9 string basses. The sky is the Limit.

There is also the Chapman stick, and other stick basses.

heh heh. actually, while most of the above is true, i do have a case for the doubleneck. it came with a soft case, and i have worked out a nice deal with calzone, they made me a sweet ata flight case for it. it's actually a beautiful case, burgundy red with "champagne" colored interiour. wonderful.

still, i often don't use any case because the case won't fit in my car. good for travelling, though.

I love those two 8-strings with the single humungous MM-style pickup. Man, that's some serious range there.

Well, if you accidentaly step on its tail, you will get a whole lot more range out of it! Sorta like an fx pedal

JT, You need a Crazy Conkie 4 banger! Almost every bassist has ONE 4 banger!

But if you are already an extended range bassist (No duh, you are) it may make you sloppy as hell!
