Asterisks. How do they work?
No, seriously, who invented asterisks?
René Goscinny, duh.
ah, beat me too it.
Here's an easy demonstration of how they work.
int x = 10;
int *xPrt = &x;
x has the value 10
xPrt shows to the memory address of x,it's a pointer to x.
* is used before a variable name to declare a pointer.
Yes I have a ****load of coding work to do and yes I am very bored at the moment and haven't smoked since I woke up,that makes ~5 hours...
I like to think of them as sarcasm-tinged quotation marks, of a sort. For example- 'yes honey, I'd *love* to hear what so & so told you today...'
I don't know, but Zappa invented the Apostrophe.
that was the greatest game EVER!
We're talking about the comics!
Nathan Hale's last words before being hanged:
"I only regret that I have but one asterisk for my country."
This from my high school history teacher...
did you ever play the game for Sega Gamegear? It was nothing short of awesome.
Was it something with grappling hook arms?
FWIW, this thread was supposed to have 4 astericks in the title (like this: ****?). it was supposed to look as if this threads titles was an obsence word that was filtered.
But then I heard JT loading the B&Cannon and changed it.
Also, this thread was (i'm pretty sure) posted following Bacardi 151. The fact that it isn't a total disaster is either a testament to my metabolism or my ability to operate well in difficult circumstances.
Either way, I had a fun weekend.
Hum, dunno who invented it but I use it to look for lost pr0n in my PC... Search-> *.jpg
Works like a charm!
Only time I've ever used them is for making an action when using messenger/aim etc. (a lot of the time for RP) or when I get on messenger I'm sometimes greeted with *glomps* from certain people XD
just like magnets.
They work like so:
*- He cheated.
I thought he just used Steroids....
