70's EPI Japan Crestwood bass

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by jimfriar, Jan 27, 2006.

  1. Picked this one up yesterday when I was out looking around - it's one of those early 70's Japanese made Epis - the Crestwood model. It is neck thru - natural finish - two big fat pickups with a 3 way. I can't believe how great it sounds! If anyone knows where to get info on these - please let me know. All I can find on the net are bolt ons from that era. The best part is it's in really clean shape . Overall - I'm really pleased!

Interesting. What do those look like? Which bass would you compare it to?

  6. thats a great looking bass

If it sounds half as good as it looks..

If you ever need to put new Pickups in it, drop in a set of darkstars, eh?

I had one, 2nd bass I ever owned, bought it new in '77. A great bass, only negative was the bridge, if I remember correctly bridge sections had 2 strings a piece.

Maya Ford from The Donnas uses what I think is a Crestwood now.

It looks to be an earlier version.

  10. Nope, She uses Epiphone Embassy basses now, cause that's what that is. I wonder why she switched from Thunderbirds to those... Either way, it's not like she stepped down, those old Embassy basses sound sweeeetttttttt.
