70's EPI Japan Crestwood bass

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by jimfriar, Jan 27, 2006.

  1. Picked this one up yesterday when I was out looking around - it's one of those early 70's Japanese made Epis - the Crestwood model. It is neck thru - natural finish - two big fat pickups with a 3 way. I can't believe how great it sounds! If anyone knows where to get info on these - please let me know. All I can find on the net are bolt ons from that era. The best part is it's in really clean shape . Overall - I'm really pleased!

Interesting. What do those look like? Which bass would you compare it to?

If it sounds half as good as it looks..

If you ever need to put new Pickups in it, drop in a set of darkstars, eh?

I had one, 2nd bass I ever owned, bought it new in '77. A great bass, only negative was the bridge, if I remember correctly bridge sections had 2 strings a piece.

Maya Ford from The Donnas uses what I think is a Crestwood now.

It looks to be an earlier version.

  9. Nope, She uses Epiphone Embassy basses now, cause that's what that is. I wonder why she switched from Thunderbirds to those... Either way, it's not like she stepped down, those old Embassy basses sound sweeeetttttttt.
