  1. What was the (average) weight of a 1977 P Bass?

Most I've come across are on the heavy side. How heavy depends on the particular piece. Try it out first

I've got a Precision '77 ash body/maple neck that weighs in at 13 pounds! The sound is very tight and focused on this bass, and I bought a 4" wide strap to help distribute the weight - still gets burdensome at the end of the night.

Thank you. You just cured my GAS for a P-bass :)

  7. hmmm. i have no doubt that its an awesome bass, just in my stage presence i do bass flips and things like that. my current bass (yamaha rbx774) is only 8.5 lbs. so do u think it will be that large of a difference?

I'd say so, that's about the difference of weight between a hollowbody guitar and your average bass (4-5 lbs), and that's very noticable.

5 and less pounds are noticable when you're wearing it on your shoulder for more than 3 seconds.
