Guys, I strung up my 74 Jazz with D'Addario half-rounds...50-105. Problem is with the G string...... I can tune it to G but the string is too floppy..yet almost in tune. I've tried to wind it to the next octave up G, but am using extreme force to do so. What's up with this? At 6'7"" and 250lbs. I ain't no weakling, and something is going to snap here! Yea, I don't change strings often enough, but this can't be right.....Bud

sounds like a mislabled string. Are you sure its a .050?

You know, I'm just eye-balling it and it is progressively smaller than the rest. But that very well could be it......Bud

No, but you, like the G string, are progressively smaller........

Yeah, don't keep tightening it. I made that mistake on a new set of hi-beams & busted an A. Fer real. If yr old strings were different gauge (or even maker?) you might need to adjust the truss rod a bit. I ended up bringing my GLJ into the shop to have them do it because I was skeert.
