Just picked up a Vintage P bass in black, my favorite, so this vintage ‘75 Fender Precision Bass in natural ash is up for sale. All appears original except for the volume pot, which is ‘87. Very sweet neck has recently had set up and frets professionally leveled, crowned and polished. Maple fretboard and what is almost certainly a C-shaped neck. Nut is 1.5”. Weight is 9.6 lbs based on multiple weighings on my digital bathroom scale. Plays like a dream and the original Grey Bottom pickups a strong. Serial number and pickups date to 1975, neck and pocket match, and the bridge, pickup covers, and PG all appear original (see photos). This bass has been played but well taken care of. Neck is straight and true and truss rod turns freely. HOnestly one of the nicest P-bass necks I've played. Low action, no fret buzz. There are the usual small nicks and a patch of surface wear on the back that only affects the top coat, not to the wood. Comes with Fender-style, non-original hard case in nice condition. I have more lots more pics, inside and out, if you want to see them. Price drop to $1775 plus shipping CONUS only. NO Trades please. Prefer bank check but will do Paypal or PO money order.
Slight cosmetics aside, this is a beautiful, great playing vintage P bass. This will make a player happy. Hate to go the The Bay with this
Thanks MM. IF one likes the natural, this one is fine- great grain and a clean smooth neck. Bump it up
Very nice bass. Much better shape (less relic) than my '75 Jazz. I notice it has the 4 bolt neck. Mine has that too. Is it also unusual for a Precision to have the 4 bolt neck? I believe they went with the 3 bolt later in '75 for the Jazz but I'm not sure about the Precision.
RIght you are about the jazz vs precision neck. Some people don't like the 3 bolt jazz, saying it's unstable. IN my experience, that's exaggerated. Mine was plenty stable and a pleasure to play. This P bass has the jazz style 1.5 nut neck, so it's also sweet and comfortable for the jazz neck lover..
