Is there any difference between these basses other than color? I thought I read somewhere that the FSR's are pretty heavy.

I had a FSR for a while and actually mine was pretty light.

I have the 70s Jazz FSR in Olympic White. It is pretty light as it has an alder body. (that is what Fender told me) Other than that, it is like the MIA 75RI. pickup spacing, bullet truss rod, 3 bolt neck.

I've heard that the 70s Jazz FSRs in candy apple red have ash bodies.

That's because they are 75RI FSR's and not 70's FSR basses.

I own an '70s FSR. It's super lightweight. The neck seems different and the frets seem smaller to me than a '75 RI though. But then again... mine has a horribly bowed neck ATM

The pickups are also regular vintage pickups (plastic coated wiring). I haven't checked the wires in a '75 RI though so I can't say for certain which pickups are in them.

My CAR 75RI bass has "vintage 75" pups in it
