  2. Because Photobucket has chosen to in effect "take down" everyone's photos (unless you pay them), we have extended post edit time in the Luthier's Corner to UNLIMITED.  If you used photobucket and happen to still have your images of builds, you can go back and fix as many of your posts as far back as you wish.

Note that TalkBass will host unlimited attachments for you, all the time, for free ;)  Just hit that "Upload a File" button.  You are also free to use our Media Gallery if you want a place to create albums, organize photos, etc :)

I´m a amateur luthier from Spain, I´ve built 3 (no very good) basses and now I want to try a 8 string, so i need your help with some things:
what´s the beeter (or most usual) distance between the fundamentals and the octaves (at nut and at bridge)?
is it better to make it in a short scale (30-32 inch)?
does it need a double truss rod, or with a single one and fiber reforcement is enough?
ok that´s all, thanks for your patience.

  2. iam not sure but a easy way for u to find out the most common spaceing is, go to web sites of makers of them to see if they have the specs.

you could allso go to warmoth.com and email them about the nut. warmoth allso sells 8 string bridges so u can check there specs.
