8-string fix up

  1. I'm getting a Starfire 8-string bass in a trade in a couple days and I'm thinking I might do some work on it.

It's one of those cheap ebay ones with the wooden bridge, here's a pic:

First off I hate hollow bodys, so I may just take the neck and maybe the pickups if they're decent and put them on a new body.

    Couple questions.

    1) Source for a proper metal 8-string bridge? (and nut, if needed)
    2) Chances that standard 4 string P/J pickups are going to sound ok with the 8 string? I have an SX P/J bass right now that I could swap the neck on.

Other advice? I'm mostly expecting this to be a fun toy, but with some mild tendinitis in the left wrist, decent playability would be good.

  2. how would you play that?

  3. Probably with my hands, but I haven't quite decided yet.

  4. I don't know man... not with tendonitis.

  5. Yeah :meh:
Maybe with my toes, then. Or, a slide, actually.
