No issues! The bridge has little slots carved in it for the strings, bass plays wonderfully. I *think* it is a floating bridge, but I've never changed the strings to find out I recall Scott saying something to me once that he was pretty sure they used a floating bridge and the location was marked on the bass. I'll work on getting some close up shots of the bridge and a video over the weekend.
This is a great deal. I have #8 of the Anniversary Embraces and I can attest to the great sound, playability and solid construction of this puppy. No intonation issues, the ebony fingerboard seduces your fretting hand. Super lightweight. Scott doesn't make these anymore but he oughta be.
I agree on the ebony fingerboard. This is as smooth playing an instrument as I've ever seen or played. Those anniversary models went for something like $1200+ if I remember correctly, so this is a nice deal for someone!
That beauty looks like it's screaming for a Delano Xtender pup... {} Wondering if one would fit?.....
I have had the delano on previous Birdsong's and it is a wonderful pickup. I believe it would fit, but the wiring/routing may be different. I honestly don't know. My understanding is that the design on the embrace was supposed to be a faux-sound hole like the one found in acoustic guitars.
It fits... put one in mine! Drilled an extra hole. And she’s a tight fit in the wiring cavity. Sounds pretty stinking awesome... Scott should make a HY5 version... hmmmm maybe for the next project... The Embrace is a super cool! I prefer it over my shortbass, but only by a hair... you won’t be disappointed... (my opinion of course)... GLWTS.
Very cool! Was it easy to install? No issues with the wiring or routing or anything? I bet that is a very powerful fretless tone
Pretty easy... I’m no wiring expert. Just centered the pickup in the cavity. Followed online wiring diagram. I originally had a push/pull pot wired. But you’d have to rout the cavity a smidge. It was a fairly simple project. Glad I didn’t screw it up! And yes... “powerful fretless tone indeed!
