if you got one let's see it. Peavey, Hondo, Yamaha, Ibanez, B.C. Rich, Japanese, Fender, whatever... my favorite era for music & instruments. thanks.

i had a peavey patriot from 1986-2009. this is not it but it looked exactly like this one:

    P9250184-300.

My delicious Hondo P-copy. It's from the first line of instruments, I guess, since the logo is different from any other Hondo pic I've seen. It doesn't say "Fame" and it definitely isn't "Hondo II", so I'm not exactly sure of the year.

I love it. I'm thinking of getting a router and adding 2 J pickups, but I'm not sold on that idea...

I have two. 1983 Peavey Foundation is my newest. The other is an '89 Peavey Fury in the middle of a refinish job. Just need some time and a decision on whether to paint or stain.

Peavy Patriot. 60 bucks at a pawn shop in "bad" condition. In 4 hrs. , it was a player. Enuff mohaghany here to build 3 dinette sets and a couch. Heavy!

    SL730144.

Washburn B10. I bought it for 25 bucks at a junk shp with a failed scarf joint ... I eventually fixed it and added the paint.
It's now metallic burgandy ... EVH paint don't work well in church.
Force ABM technology body (whatever that is) It's heavy also.

    SL730113.

    another 80's bass thread?......ok :D

    my 2 Kramers:
    P1010139.

    my 2 crackles:
    cpic001x-7.

    my 2 black and maples:
    P1010255-edit.

    here's 2 80's guitars melded into 1 > a Kramer neck on a Charvel body:
    P1010067.
    .
p.s. I got a LOT more of them, but that's enough for now -- long live 80's basses, and in 10 years I hope each and every one of them in the whole WORLD goes up in value for collectors like all the 70's imports are doing now :):)

    GrimmBass01-1.

And a young Dogbone with my long gone but not forgotten Aria Pro II:

    Aria1.

And here's a fuzzy pic of me playing live with my 1980- something Rick 4003 (sorry about the pic, but I guess we all know what a Ric looks like):

    LiveRickenbacker03.

The '80s, what a time.

The only time I've owned a guitar with a crackle finish is when I was refinishing and messed up the paints. Cool finish for synths and stuff as well.

Was it originally a product of a paintshop malfunction?

probably so, but if it was I'm sure it was discovered long before the 80's if you mix "this" with "that" the topcoat shrinks.
