I have brass adjusters with 8mm 1.25 pitch threads and would like to try aluminum or maybe some nice hardwood adjusters.
It seems the aluminum ones are 1/4" or 6mm and the wooden ones 10mm.
Although I can use inserts to go with 1/4" I would rather not due to the risk of damaging the bridge and In the end, I may want to use the brass after all.
Surely, I'm not the only one with runaway OCD.:eyebrow:

Not to second guess, but are you sure they're not 5/16 inch x 18 threads? I'm just asking because 8 mm is pretty close to 5/16 inch.

Metric sounds correct. I have a set of aluminium ones in 8mm diameter & 1.25mm pitch.

If you have trouble finding them, you could always go to a specialised bolt store to find some aluminium bolts in the right size and cut the hex top off the bolt, then get a right sized tap to make a new thread in an existing smaller adjuster wheel.

It fits an 8mm 1.25 nut perfectly.

The diameter is very close to 5/16" but the threads just don't match up.

Could you steer me to your source, or the luthier who installed them?

Sorry, they were just already on a bass I bought a long time ago.

    When I bought a set of 6mm x 1mm adjusters, I bought them from http://www.bassworks.com.au.

They said they can make a custom size thread, though 8x1.25 isnt an uncommon size so they may already have them in stock.

Otherwise thats why I thought about a specialist bolt store. They will do basically the same thing for you.

  7. Just for the mix - my aluminium adjusters needed a 1/4" tap. Fine for me as was a virgin bridge, but I can undrestand the frustrations of changing adjusters with no common thread standards!

They look exactly like the ones I have.

To be honest, theyre all a ripoff. I dont think Ill buy "adjusters" again, Ill just make my own. Theyre overpriced for what is effectively a bolt without a head, and an oversized circular nut.
