90s Jazz Bass Plus 5

    I've been shopping around for a used modestly priced 5 string. Rather than look towards Mexico or Korea to find something in my range, I've been looking back to the 90s and 80s for domestic models with a few bumps and bruises that might fit the bill as well.

    I've seen quite a few Fender Jazz Pluses from the 90s on eBay. Those had smaller J-style bodies, no pickgaurd and Lace Sensor pickups. I've tried the 4 string models and thought they were okay, but I've never checked out the 5s. My concern is that low B string (tone any good?, flabby feel?, etc.).

    Anybody out there ever or currently own a Jazz Plus 5 from way back? Do you think its worth plucking down a few hundred or should I go import until I feel I'm worth of a proper U.S./Canadian 5 string ax?
