This is your tuxedo jaco bass on steroids.

2-pc koa body, center seam. Nitro finish. From the era ESP custom shop were labeling some their guitars Schecter. Slim neck, excellent playability and sings across all registers, mwah for days.

10+lbs weight lends a pleasant natural compression to the warm and balanced tone imparted by koa. Even and punchy jaco tone with the tapped Monstertone single coils via push-pull tone knob. Birdseye maple. Minimal impressions on the dark ebony fretboard.

This bass beats custom shop Fenders 3x the price and finding a solid body koa instrument is near impossible nowadays. Ships in Warwick case.

Would consider trades for a Yamaha BB5000A wide neck. 20190912_200018.

Do you have any more info on this era of ESP/Schecter? It’s hard to google much info about their relationship other than people arguing about their import models. Also any info on the pickups, since it looks like they might not be originals?

    No arguing, facts here.

The wiki page on Schecter guitars is explicit about the Shibuya buy out post Dallas era.

As far as i know Monstertone pickups never stopped making product since the Van Nuys era. These are reissues of the original design with the desired coil tap circuit and were supplied directly to the ESP custom shop.

Collaboration and eventual ownership of Schecter guitars by ESP is also well documented.

Neck thicknesses ~ 0.8" at fret 1, 0.9" at fret 12. Definitely more early 60's than late 70's like.
