Well, Everything is about as clean as I can get, although I'm still thinking of taking it to a pro for him to check out. I will post more later because of the lighting conditions... The tape on the pickups is to block the steel wool particles from attaching themselves to the poles. Look closely and you will see that I need a fret job. I cleaned everything out of the preamp cavity. Notice the wires of the new Quarter Pounder pickup. My workspace.
Oh and I also had it appraised. Rockin Robin's would sell it $2000. So I got a helluva deal at $600 for this thing. The luthier also said he would dress the frets for me for $50. Then all it would need is a preamp. I would glue the nut back on, solder everything together, and have myself a damn fine bass.
Oh yeah, and if you start losing desire to finish working on it, just listen to this: http://s36.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=1C167IG64564I1PBZNNT6B6GTI
bandsaw = saw with a motor and the blade is in a circle (thus band). thats just a good ol' hand saw. it looks nice wish i could find a deal like that lowsound
WOW!! That thing looks night and day different from what it looked like before. Hope it is now in as good of condition as it looks to be in. You should post soundclips once it is completely finished.
Man, that thing is looking beautiful now, really needs that fret job though. You've got yourself one heck of a deal despite all that.
Cleaning up these old Warwicks is a great investment. I have a '90 Streamer Stage One that was cleaned up and looks great.
