This is a pic of my '96 Fender Mexican Fretless that I bought in a metalhead guitar shop for $150, complete with Space Ghost sticker on the pickguard. (In the pics its being played by Felix Pastorius; in the first pic, I'm second from the right)

I've owned a couple of other P and J-Basses before, and have played on a few Warwicks, but I still favor that J-Bass. I just took off the pickguard (see, it's autographed by Felix and Bobby Thomas!), and put some GHS Bass Boomers .45-.105's on there, and it sounds great! It has a MUCH better sound than those Fender Nylon Tapewounds...

Okay.... This is just too cool for two reasons.... One, Mexican fretlesses rock. I own two that have been slightly customized and have yet to look anywhere else for a bass. I've got my babies. ;-) Two, I thought I was looking at Jaco in that second picture. It's so awesome the legacy has been passed on. Did you get to hear Felix and Bobby play any at their gig? How was it?

    Hey JazznFunk..

Of COURSE I got to check out them play! It was just unbelieveable. I made an entire weekend out of it, visiting Jaco's grave site, and then going to Bobby and Felix's gig in South Beach, Miami. Man, it's just incredible. Felix DEFINITELY has his father's chops, no doubt. When I was sittin' down in that club listening to them play, I closed my eyes a few times and thought that it WAS Jaco. But, the groovy thing about it is that Felix takes that sound and makes it his own, he's not a copy-cat. And the sparks between him and Bobby were just sizzling! It was definitely a great night of music, MUCH worth the 6 hour drive from Tampa(USF) to Ft. Lauderdale/South Beach! Not to mention that Ingrid, Felix, and Julius are some of the nicest people in the world!

Out of the like 120 pictures I took, here's what I've scanned so far:
