For sale only is my Roscoe Beck V. I have nothing but praise for these basses but I've come to accept the fact that I just much prefer a narrow string spacing and neck.
As everyone knows, an incredibly solid and VERSATILE bass. It'll do vintage or modern. Love the tone of this bass.

*EDIT* Just got the bass back from Mike Lull. He removed a couple factory shims, leveled the last 6 frets, did a set up, new strings and it plays great!

I had the pleasure to try one of these once it’s an excellent bass.
the neck is very similar to my five string precision bass which is just a touch big for me but not for some other great players out there.
Highly recommended for the range of sounds.

If I could only bolt the neck of my Stingray to this, I’d have the perfect bass!

Fantastic basses, i have owned two 97's.
When i sold my teal metalic i had to get another, same burst as yours.

I love the neck on these basses, feels like a P neck, makes you stretch just a bit more. Some awesome tones to be had out of these basses.

You mention the P-feel neck, what about tones? I've read it can do the single coil Jazz thing because of the switching options, but can it cop any sort of P vibe? I've watched a few videos (and like the sound) but haven't found anything P-ish yet. I'm contemplating modding or buying a P/J or P/MM style config.

Yes you can get a pbass sound out of the front pickup.
But i have 59 custom shop for my pbass sound.
The two huge sounds i use on the Roscoe Beck are both pickups in parallel.
    Huge sound.
And in single coil mode the bridge portion of each pick up is phenomenal.
Tight, punchy, bright but full when a little bass is added.
    Awesome basses.

I am just really impressed at the range of tones. Mine doesn't completely nail the p tone its really a jazz bass but close enough it excels at everything else and no dam single coil jazz hum!

The asymmetrical neck carve definitely makes for a comfy player. The neck on this bass is also what contributes to it having such a tight, focused B string as well.

Of course, nothing does a P-bass like a P-bass but yes, the Roscoe Beck can definitely cop a Pbass vibe. Some say they like using the neck pickup in single coil, but I think putting the neck pickup in series sounds like a P-bass to me.

If you want the P/J, I'd put the neck in series and the bridge in single coil. For P/MM, maybe the neck in series and the bridge in parallel.

I also like bridge in series and neck in parallel. Also pulling up the tone knob to favor the rear with it in series. So many options!

I might actually take this into Mike Lull's shop and have the frets leveled. I don't feel comfortable selling a bass that isn't playing tip top. If I have it Plek'd, the price is either going up or I'm keeping it and learning to deal with a wide neck...…Stay tuned
