Like Brendan said, having already seen an 8-string 4×4 fretted/fretless, the 9-string wasn't that much of a big deal. But...

I really like many of the basses on that site. Nice shapes, looks like great workmanship, originality. And I definitely would like to hear a sample of the fretless with the granite fretboard. I wouldn't want to be the guy who had to shape it, though! Or carry it.

In the descriptions of the basses they name a lot of woods that i have never heard of before- and they also don't appear on their woods page. Alternate (Belgian?) names for more familiar woods, maybe?

There's an issue of bass player that has an article about a guy that tours in europe. He uses a bass like that. :)

The site does mark the LeFay copy with the same marking that it uses for the Strat and Les Paul copies.

it 's not that the 9string is a big deal, but after seeing a lot of fine lutherie from the USA (conklin, MTD, roscoe, .......) I just wanted to show some fine basses from my country!!!!!!!!

if it was up to me, I would get a double neck 5-4 rather getting that 9..

    just my opinion

nexus basses were originally manufactured in my home town, the company moved to belgium recently. great, great basses - they play better than they look.

    Wow, they look great.

How sturdy do you think the spindley bit would be on the dune bass?

I too would love to hear what the granite finger board sounds (incidentally it looks like our old kitchen work surface).
  16. I'm glad you did, i'm from belgium too and didn't even tknow the brand.

You know kritz? Also from Belgium and very inovative!! www.kritz.be

And there's collier too, a belgian bassmaker (don't know the website, sorry)
  18. Any idea how much a granite fingerboard weighs, anyone?

My guess would be a few pounds more than any wood board - so the bass might have big neck dive, or weigh a ton if it's well balanced. Just curious.

    Anyone know?:)

    Hello folks,

Lots of reaction I se on our basses... actually the basses of Jacek Kobylski, the one that makes Nexus instruments... I wish that all of you would drop by to try them. On the question of the weight of the stone fingerboard: its a rather thin layer and weights not much more than a conventional one... and all Nexus instruments are well balanced... so no neck diving here!!! The sound that can be achieved is comming close to the sound of playing with a bow [if wanted] But all of these instruments are having their own character. Also the guitars are worth a try. For all questions and/or suggestions please contact us or post on our forum.

Are looking like.... so do not hesitate to contact us.
