A/B Comparison of Aphex Bass Xciter and BBE Sonic Maximizer?

I'm looking for a comparison of these two pedals. Basically, I'm leaning towards the BBE because it's cheaper, and I don't need another DI (which I would assume is why the Aphex costs more).

I just want something to beef up my rig, with a crisp, punchy tone, and I've read that both of these pedals can do that. I've even read that the BBE somehow gives the illusion of making your amp seem louder(?)

I've searched, but never found exactly what information I needed, so any and all help is appreciated.
