What type of site are you creating?

    Personal?
    Business?
    e-Commerce?

I use Network Solutions and have no complaints about their domain/hosting service.

    hack proof software?

a name costs $10 - $35 a year depending on which registrar you use.
    www.networksolutions.com
    www.discountdomainregistry.com
    www.register.com
    etc

hosting is from $5 to sky's the limit monthly with lots of secure places in the $5 to $25 a month range.

www.phpwebhosting.com is the only one I use currently.

Those are just leasing the use of the name and the server space to have it viewable by the world. now building a site has WAY to many variables to ball park for you.

and nothing is hack proof. NOTHING. but there are places that are more up on security than others.

I've one client that uses them for a registrar, host and email server. Seems pretty solid so far.
