...and can sure use some healing mojo.

Hawk, our eldest Greyhound, has developed a mass on his front leg. We just got home from the vet, and the x-rays looked terrifying. He's having a biopsy done tomorrow because there are indications this may be either a "treatable" cancer or a fungal issue. His chest and abdomen were clear, so we'll give it a try.

We lost Star, our beloved first Grey, two years ago this past December 14th to Osteosarcoma (sp?), a particularly nasty form of bone cancer. Five weeks from diagnosis until we had to put her down because it had spread to her intestines.

Hawk is a magnificent creature, always gentle and loving, and is like our child. I'm very scared right now. I could really use your prayers, regardless of your faith.

I don't pray, but I feel for you.
It's horrible to see a being suffer that you love and that loves you.

I'm really hoping that whatever they do find in Hawk that it is treatable. My brothers 10 year old lab was recently diagnosed with osteosarcoma (an untreatable bone cancer) in his right front leg. I'm praying this is not the case with Hawk.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and Hawk

Hey if it all works out we can exchange greyhound stories. I had one retired racer for about 5 years.

So how many times did your dogs wipe out and skin there legs/butt taking a turn to fast??

We have four - both Hawk and Nissan were retired due to racing injuries, but Lisa and Saber made it out uninjured so far as we know. A lot of the Greys have bald butts - it's from the bedding used in the crates, I'm told.

    They make great pets!
