Well, ol' Spankbass came through for me and got me into NAMM today. Man, am I tired! Got to see all the latest and greatest stuff, and yakked with quite a few folks. David Nordschow ~ He was moving around some of the Eden stuff at ... you guessed it ... the Washburn display. I asked him about the status of the WT-550 which, he says, is a really sweet amp. He said it should be out by this summer. Very nice guy. BTW, Dimebag Darrel showed up at the Washburn display at 2, and SpankBass and his friends got his autograph. I was feeling a bit old today. Dan Lakin ~ As nice as they say he is. He had me compare the American JO5 with the Skyline version. Seems pretty much like the same bass. The Skylines are first-rate basses. I also got to play a Hollowbody through an Ashdown amp. I had a little trouble getting some bite out of it ... it's very smooth ... but that may be due to the JO flats that were on it. I was able to get a decent upright sound out of it, though. Great folks at Lakland. Steve Rabe ~ Got the straight scoop from the horses mouth. David Nordschow never worked for him. After Bag End got into the car audio business, SWR switched over to cabs made in Chicago by Nordschow. That's it in a nutshell. Bob Lee ~ Also another friendly and helpful guy. He gave me lots of info on the PLX and Powerlite series amps, and had a few kind words for PBG, too! Dave Avenius ~ Some of you may remember Dave from LABX. You'll never guess where he is now. He's working in NEW YORK for Aguilar! I bought three basses from him over at the exchange. I didn't get a chance to get briefed on what happened, though. Sorry. Anyway, a truly amazing experience.
