So, a guy who likes my playing on sax(Father in Law ;) ) told me he was going to buy me a saxophone. He then said he was going to just give Me X amount of dollars and let me pick it out on my own. So I will have about $800 left from than and about $525 from selling my old sax. I am giving the $525 to my wife to help fund a new laptop. So....$800 on a bass. So hard to choose. I think I will have to ad in a little bit of money to get what I want...but who knows.

    Fretless
    5 string
    17mm spacing
I would like to see a P pick up in there. That is probably not going to happen.
If its a Musicman it needs to be a HH or an HS and I hate bongos.

    Hit me with suggestions please.

Carvin, but no P p/u though... You can most likely get one used for under $800. Check eBay, I caught one there just last night.

    Good luck!

I have looked at carvin. But their CS sucks. They will never call me back or respond to emails. I was ready to buy a bass from them last year...they never got back to me :(
Warwick necks have always felt like baseball bats to me. Are they all like that? I will try out a used corvette soon.

So, your father in law gave you money for a saxaphone, and you're buying a bass, instead? Have you asked him if that was cool?

  6. Well, he said he's scoped out the sax, and will have $800 left over after buying it. Though, personally, I'd put that $800 into more sax.

Thats how much money I will have left over from the sax. HE said ..."I'm giving you X for a saxophone, do what you want with whatever is left."

    Good call though.

Right on. Not a bad set up at all, then, is it?

$800 will get you into a couple great mouthpieces.
