  1. I'm ok with Henrik - hauling the mail right here...

Who else? My headphones need some motion...

!, from the look I was expecting hard core doom punk, but got more like Michael Jackson instead!

    Great musicians.

They should have shown the horn players, though.

    You already mentioned Henrik...

    Hadrien Feraud

    Damien Erskine

    Christian McBride

    Federico Malaman

Pino Pallidino (modern, don’t care how long he’s been around)

    Richard Bona

    Esperanza Spaulding

    Scott Ambush

    Mohini Dey

    Alain Caron

    Adam Nitti

And all of the Lee Sklars, Dave Hungates, Nathan East’s, Michael Rhodes’, Gary Lunns, Rocco Prestia/Mark VWs (TOP), and so many others that are still relevant....

Saw her live last year with David Crosby and Sky Trails. She's wonderful on bass.

There's only good recordings, really. Lee Sklair on Billy Cobham's 'Spectrum' is extraordinary.

When I think of modern/contemporary players, the ones I've been getting into include Angeline Saris, Nathan Navarro, and Evan Marien.

And if Ryan Martinie counts as a contemporary player, then him too. (It's crazy to think that the Mudvayne song "Dig" came out almost 20 years ago; you know the br-br-deng song.)

I guess I'd need a definition for "modern."

Wilco was founded in '94, and John Stirratt has been the sole bass player throughout various line-up changes in the band over the years. They're still making great music, so maybe that qualifies as "modern." Or maybe it doesn't. But Stirratt stands out for me. Just great, tasteful playing that always serves the tune.
