ok so im going rack. and im getting soem sliding rack shelves. only problem is i dont know that the rack shelves will fit in the rack. the rack is 18 inches deep rail to rail. how will i know that my rack shelves fit?

does the rack or rack gear come with teh proper mounting screws?

what are the little white things in this photo that are holding the cables to the rack? in know a lot of it is zip ties but some of them are on those white things.

and what is up with all those colored cables and and aluminum boxes. i dont have all that in my rack. am i missing something?

i suppose thats it for now...thanks.

  2. If you're buying shelves made for a rack, you don't have to worry about them being the wrong size. Racks are 19" wide, that's what the shelves will be.

As far as the things holding the cables to the sides, no idea what they are but it's a cool idea.

That looks like a Bradshaw rig to me. If it is, it's all of his custom switching components in there. Pricey stuff.

  4. The white plastic pieces are glue-on bases for cable ties. Electricians use them in industrial power panels, for example. They self-stick to the panel wall, then you put a cable tie through them.

They are available through industrial electronics supply places. Mouser or Digikey probably carries them, and maybe Parts Express.

i meant the depth. like if the shelf sticks out the back or is to short and cant mount to the back rail....

  7. Racks are standard sized. Amps and things like rack shelves are designed to fit in the standard rack form factor. You shouldn't have any problems outfitting your rack from a catalog.
