Tappistry.org This forum was quiet for a while, then closed by the previous owner, but is now re-opened under new ownership, enthusiastic and active again. We would love to have some new members. Those who tap normal guitars and basses are very welcome, it's not just for dedicated tapping instruments. Note, i am not the owner or an administrator.
Glad to see this forum. I had a Warr years ago but didn't have the time to learn it. A T8 Touch Guitar will be coming my way in a couple months and I'll probably have a bunch of questions. Right now, trying to figure out which Phil Jones Bass amp to get. Also: I'll be looking to get rid of a Euphonic Audio iAmp head.
I couldn't find updated info on Mark Warr. It was a hard choice between the Chapman Railboard and the Touch Guitar. I've met Markus Reuter and know how exacting he is. In the end, I chose the model that's designed for use when sitting - 'cause I'm old.
Based mostly on weight, I decided to keep the iAmp and get a Euphonic Audio NL112 cab. I haven't got the Touch Guitar yet so I can't comment on how it sounds but it's smaller, lighter, and better-looking than I expected and Golihur Music took whopping 28 hours to get it to me.
The Tappistry forum has now been closed down by the new owner. This time it really is the end as no new owner has been found to ensure a continuation. In a way unfortunate, but in a way it seems a suitable closure, as the forum was previously owned by 2 successive owners of the Megatar tapping instrument company, which recently ceased business. The forum and forum name had 'baggage' in terms of association with and ownership by Megatar. Unfortunately now, the only place outside Facebook (which is blocked to those not signed up) dedicated to touch guitars is the official Stick forum, which has a section for other brands. That forum can be rather hostile to other brands, because it is a brand-dedicated forum, these tend to contain brand hostility that would not be tolerated on a multi-brand forum, and provide a place where extreme fanatics are emboldened to act in ridiculous ways. I am still searching for a regularly upadated touch guitar thread here on TalkBass, not yet sure if there is one, it would be good to have one (but not a 'club' with meaningless and time-consuming-to-manage 'membership numbers'). There seem to be many touch guitar owners here.
That's sadly true. That forum is just a club for Stick owners, they even call the other brands "Teflon", because they're not "sticky" enough. Boys and their toys...
